Date Night at TOKKI LA
One pic of Tokki’s uni toast in my ig feed and I HAD TO HAVE IT. Good bye avocado toast, uni toast is here and she has taken over. We finally had a chance to enjoy date night at Tokki and I am obsessed. I already knew the food was going to be good, but I didn’t expect to be mind blown. Literally everything was so delicious.
Korean food is GOOD MOOD FOOD. It’s an entire eating culture all centered around comfort and a good time. Tokki brings that concept to life BIG TIME. Their menu is Korean-based, but with a unique twist and influence from other cuisines. All dishes are meant to be shared so bring all your friends and order everything! My husband and I ordered a lot for 2 because we couldn’t resist, lol. We really enjoyed everything and we can’t wait to come back for more!
Rosé Tteokbokki - fried rice cakes with rosé gochujang sauce, which reminds me of a creamy vodka sauce. We loved it so much, I’ve been making gochujang pasta at home.
Uni Toast - like I said, I came for the toast and it did not disappoint. I love anything with uni, and I was pleasantly surprised that it is so good served on toast. It is topped with LOTS of uni, a little bit of avocado crema, onion aioli, cucumbers, and smoked trout roe. All the ingredients really went together and enhanced the taste of the uni versus overpowering it. Loved it.
Hokkaido Scallops - raw and huge pieces of Hokkaido scallops topped with hot brown butter seaweed sauce, pickled ramps, black truffle pate, ginger juice. As delicious as it sounds. A must.
Truffle Kimchi Fried Rice - this dish came out looking huge as hell but somehow my husband and I nearly finished it. The truffle bulgogi really went with it and I don’t think I can have regular kimchi fried rice without truffle ever again.
For drinks, we ordered a natural orange wine and it was delicious. They don’t serve liquor and their cocktails are soju/sake based. I didn’t have any but will try next time!
