Creator Issa Rae stars as Issa Dee, who struggles to navigate the tricky professional and personal terrain of Los Angeles along with her best friend Molly (Yvonne Orji). While some of Issa’s and Molly’s experiences are a little extreme and extra, lol, this show accurately depicts the highs and lows of getting lost and found here in LA.
A dangerously charming, intensely obsessive young man goes to extreme measures to insert himself into the lives of those he is transfixed by. The sweet Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl has turned creepy, stalker perv. Season 2 is half about the creepy, stalker perv life BUT the other half is about an LA transplant hating, then loving, then hating, then loving LA. It mocks LA for our “LA life” i.e. vegan/gluten free, endless traffic, and expensive rent but very accurately shows how this beautiful city slowly captures your heart and claims it forever. One episode goes into the “7 totems of LA” which is a checklist of items transplants must see in order to claim “Angeleno” status. Once a person collects them all, they can never leave. I’m 4 out of 7. Hbu???
