Safer at Home: Home Workouts

Like everyone else, I really miss going to the gym (and anywhere, really). But seriously I miss the energy. Even though I love working out alone, it is so motivating to be around others who are so focused and dedicated to fitness and health.

Lately, my friends have been flooding their IG stories with home workout videos. Omg, it’s that ENERGY I’ve been missing! Then I realized - we do not have to be in the same space to share that energy. We, at home, are working out alone - together! If you miss going to the gym or you’re taking this time to learn new workouts, I highly recommend everything listed below. Do you guys have any other recommendations? Share in the comments!

SWEAT

I’ve been using the sweat app for a little over one year now and I love it. There are several programs to choose from! I love mixing it up between BBG and Fierce. They recently released several “at home” programs that require little to no equipment. The app is very user friendly - it tells you what you need for each workout, sets timers, has video guides. It’s awesome! They offer a free 7 day trial.

MELISSA WOOD HEALTH

MWH is a mix of pilates and yoga. Honestly, it looks easy but man those “precise, low impact movements” hurt so good! I am on the 6th day of my trial and I am definitely going to sign up. What I love most about MWH is you can choose how long you want to workout. Whether it’s an 8 minute workout in between meetings or a full hour workout, MWH has you covered. 7 day free trial available!

DOWN DOG

I haven’t practiced yoga in a very long time and thanks to Down Dog, I remembered why I loved it so much. I love that Down Dog allows you to personalize every yoga practice - you can choose time, level, and music. You can even select your instructor’s voice! Lol. I love doing 10 minute sessions in between meetings. Download for free until April 1st.

NIKE TRAINING APP

So many workouts varying in time and time. You can choose workouts as short as 8 minutes or as long as an hour. NTC groups its workouts into endurance, mobility, strength, and yoga. My faves are the quick HIIT workouts. There are several free workouts to choose from and they have “premium” level workouts that require a membership - but they offer a 7 day free trial.

RESISTANCE BANDS

These are great for quick home workouts and increase the effectiveness and intensity of exercises. For example, they make a normal squat more challenging! I purchased the bands linked, but there are so many to choose from on Amazon. This package comes in 5 different resistance strength levels: X-Light, Light, Medium, Heavy and X-Heavy.

BOWFLEX DUMBBELLS

So pricey, but convenient! One pair of dumbbells that can adjust to weights ranging from 5 to 90 pounds. There are different models to choose from. Perfect to share with Chris and perfect for our small space.

JUMPROPE

Can’t go out for a run? A 10 minute jumprope session is just as challenging.
